Science Fiction TV

originalStarTrekTV is where most of us get our introduction to science fiction. When Star Trek premiered I was ten years old. Another kid at school told me about this great new show. I watched the second episode and have been hooked ever since. There have been many great incarnations of Trek over the years. But, the original will always be my favorite.

twilightZoneThe Twilight Zone is technically not science fiction. Its kind of a mixture of fantasy and scifi. However, many of the great golden age writers worked for Rod Serling. There are some great episodes worth watching. Like: It’s a Good Life.

outerlimitsThe Outer Limits is another of those shows that wavers between fantasy and science fiction. I use to  convince my parents to let me watch, and then couldn’t sleep with the lights off for a week. I watch this show on Hulu and it still scares the crap out of me.

BattleStarGalacticaBattlestar Galactica is one of those rare examples where the remake is better than the original. The 70’s original sucked; there is no other way to put it. The latest version is well written, acted, directed and produced. The quality of this show is almost as exciting as the show itself. Not only that, cylons didn’t look like that when I was a kid….

FallingSkiesFalling Skies, as of this writing, is the only show on this list that is still in production. This is a great Scifi series with well written scripts and fantastic production. The only problem is the number of episodes per season. I count ten last year, and that make for difficulty keeping a fan base. People have short memories.
